Microgaming Denies Access to US Casino Players

07 November 2008

The online gaming players in the United States have received another blow to their abilities to gamble at online casinos as Microgaming has decided to block all new U.S. customers from signing up to gambling sites powered by their software.

The move is thought to have been at least somewhat based on the Kentucky forfeiture case, which has already seen several online casinos block U.S. players in order to comply with the ruling and avoid domain name seizures.

Although Microgaming's website does not offer any actual gambling, it is prominently featured on several sites whose domain names were a part of the over 100 sites that were required to block access. Up to date, Microgaming had already blocked 13 states since the UIGEA was passed.

Any existing U.S. players will still be able to play however any new U.S. customers wishing to gamble online would have to search out other sites still allowing access such as Cherry Red Casino and Rushmore Casino.

Only time will tell if the legalization and regulation of online gambling will become a reality, but in the meantime, many suggest adhering to the presents laws will strengthen a companies chance to receive American licensing in the future.
